My reasons:

1. To create different cuts of a video. I will make a YouTube video and then make a shorter cut as a "teaser" to promote on Facebook.

2. To make backup versions. Sometimes, I will do massive edits that I am not 100% sure I will keep so I copy the timeline as a backup.

Anyways, great tutorial! I've left a thumbs up.

Watched this video for the first time a couple of weeks back and started using timelines to edit IG and YouTube videos in the same project. Came back for the second time and unlocked new meaning 😄 turns out, it's so convenient to split the video into intro / main part / outro
thanks for this!

I said Oh a lot watching this. I'm only editing a short film, which I'm totally lost working on. Thanks for the tips!

Nice to know, not sure I’ll ever have something that involved to edit but, definitely nice to know.

I did this for the first time with our family vacation a few weeks back. Made it easier to get things done because one day had way more footage so I was able work on that at a comfortable pace over time while still being able to edit the rest of the trip day by day and then put it all together. Otherwise, it probably would have never happened.

This is a really cool idea. I'm going to try it out and see how it goes. Thanks Jay!

As a musician, I would consider this useful for uploading individual pieces or songs from a performance as well as a full performance.

Dude, super helpful! Thanks a ton!

For the bonus tip, too! Hahaha, I was always placing timelines all over the place like a moron. Putting them in the same folder just makes sense, yet it never dawned on me. Go figure.

Hello,

i have a question:

I have a 3:50 minutes long timeline fully edited with color correction ect....
My system struggles hard now and is on its limits.

So my idea was to make a new project and do the rest of the video on another timeline. If i finished that, I would save this timeline and open up in the first project(timeline) to combine it and render it out at a single video.

Is this possible?

Regarding 3:28 about 1 audio track. I am looking for an answer how to INSERT clips via keyboard (insert key) not by draging to the timeline from source monitor. If I want to just add Audio1 and Audio2 it always give just one track of audio. Is there any way to insert many audio tracks from source monitir?

Very helpful.

Feedback — from :56 to 1:25 is the longest sentence I have ever heard. Some more vocal pauses would help minds like mine more readily ingest what you are saying. Thanks!

Hi Jay! I love your channel, which has been very helpful to Bump-up my Davinci Resolve skills since I started to create Art-Tutorial videos. This particular video saved me a LOT of time. THANK YOU! But I have a question and I hope you can help: I now use multiple Timelines to create different sections of final project and then just simply put those finished "Section Timelines" into final "Master Timeline". But if I later decide, to remove a clip, add a Fusion composition or make some other changes to one of those "Section Timelines" - it doesn't "update" itself on a Master Timeline. I searched and couldn't found a solution. I have to delete it, and re-insert New Section Timeline with saved changes. Is there a setting that I can use to enable automatic updating of all the Section Timelines in that Final Master Timeline. I hope you know what I mean... Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work. Rasko

Good video! Wish I would have known about this while working on my last revisions to a master timeline is a headache!

In FCP7 (back in the day, long.... long ago) it was possible to actually have two or more timelines open at the same time where you could literally copy and paste between two open timelines. It was a very useful feature that none of the new NLE's seem to be capable of. Unless someone knows differently. I used it all the time. This is somewhat useful but seems to be more about component
editing (section by section) rather than multiple timelines.
