I am so sorry to see that you have to go back to Colombo after trying to settle in Galle. So difficult to find a nice clean place at a reasonable price there it seems. May be your friends can suggest a district in Colombo. Finding a nice reasonable place not far for an International school is your goal and is difficult when you are not speaking the local language. It would be so much easier if Bagdan was speaking a little more English that would enable him to fit in better in school and make friends. You and Sasha are very smart and strong and I know by now that you are very resilient. I wish you the best, finding a place that feel right for the three of you. Hi Senushi, make sure not to book something next to the lagoon, but next to the ocean. Sri Lanka seens to be going through a huge heat wave there - a friend of mine is currently staying next to the lagoon and finds the heat intolerable. Keeping my fingers crossed you find something nice!

Those ditches on the side of the road seem very deep. Hope you can find somewhere that has sidewalks along the roads so you can walk safely to the stores and playgrounds. And be able to take Bagdan to school safely. Since this is a pretty big city please be careful about people trying to scam you. But you seem to know about that already because you told that bus person that you refused to pay for the luggage on the bus. Why don't you try Kandy suburbs like Digana, Kundasale, Balagolla or Haragama. All these areas are closer to affrdable international schools and have good properties.

It's too bad you couldn't find a place in Galle. I know you liked the climate and being near the ocean, but things happen for a reason. Could you find a real estate agent to help you find an apartment? I know there are apartment hunters who know the market and might be able to help find a place for you. Can you ask your friends there to help with finding an apartment since they know the area? I can't imagine trying to find a place to live in a country I've never been to before and know nothing about. I wish you much luck in finding a place to live. Both your faces are starting to show tiredness and I'm sure all you want is a place to call home for now.

better to live in a colombo suburb like malabe or battaramulla areas since rent prices are less. but there are less childrens parks compared with colombo city.

Just watched this current video on you tube. There are many packs of dogs and a lot of cats in the country’s you go to. But this town has dogs that have earned respect from people in the worse way I fear. There’s enough stress and now mad pack of dogs fricking ripping people apart. Sorry. That is my fear. Hug Bagdan. Maybe there are subscribers here who know a place which you could rent? International school might be a challenge for anyone not on a diplomat's salary or so, but I am not sure. If need be, I guess even if you wait a little longer with enrolling Bagdan should be fine. Even if he was 7 by then, it would be worth it if he spoke English a little better at that time.
