On this episode of The Movie Podcast, Daniel and Shahbaz are joined by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch from Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story chronicles the case of the real-life brothers convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez. While the prosecution argued that the brothers sought to inherit their family fortune, they maintain—now serving life sentences without the possibility of parole—that their actions stemmed from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents. The series dives into this historic case that captivated the world, paving the way for the modern fascination with true crime, and challenges viewers with the question: Who are the real monsters? @Netflix @stillwatchingnetflix

The series stars Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Cooper Koch, Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny, Ari Graynor, and Nathan Lane. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is currently streaming on Netflix.

Cooper deserves an Emmy for episode 5. He gives us a masterclass in acting.

I love how Cooper portrays the younger brother in the show but it's so obvious he's the older one irl. Both did a fantastic job, the acting was divine!

Cooper koch in episode 5 is another level of acting, not just because it's a one shot monologue of 30 minutes but also those lines were cruel, explaining gruesome assault for that long, he better get that Emmy award❤

Let's set aside any disagreements about the series, but Nicholas's acting was sensational and outstanding. Both of them were amazing, the whole cast was great, but Nicholas was truly exceptional! His character was not easy to interpret, very complex with mood swings, and in my opinion, he did a fantastic job.

The best part of the show was watching these two on the screen.. Love when directors cast non-A-list celebrities to play roles and let us fall in love with new actors /people. I can’t wait to watch what comes next from them! 10/10 casting.

I love how coopers research went far beyond just playing Erik in the show, he actually advocates and cares about the brothers and the case. Also his acting in the show was incredible !

Nicholas was very guarded at first interview, now he seem to be more at ease. He is very disciplined, so it doesn’t surprise me, the way in which he conducts himself in this and any particular interview pertaining to the movie. So proud of this young actor.

Anyone who knows Nicholas and his background knows how humble he is and how blessed he feels. This man just turned 24 or 25. He is cerebral, kind and emphatic. He is staring because he is open to learning for his craft. Anyone who watched GH knows he is iconic for his age and a very cerebral actor. Can’t watch this young man grow.

I do not judge Nicholas. Every time Monsters is released, the main actors receive a lot of recognition but also receive backlash from people who do not separate fiction from reality. This case is more delicate than Dahmer because the brothers are alive and you have people who support them and people who do not. Also, picking sides is risky

Nicholas is totally opposite to his character. He seems so humble and laid back.

Yesss Nicholas and Cooper speaking about the miscarriage of justice the brothers faced in the second trial!!! So glad that these actors are using their platform to bring this up. The brothers have served more than enough time, they deserve to be released!!! These brothers were tortured by their parents and the evidence was not allowed in the second trial
