I have been to Maui five times, including a trip last month, and went to Lahaina every time. I love this area more than I love my home town of Seattle. I haven’t cried like this in years. Every little street there I recognize, and love so much, yet all of it is just gone.

I lived on Maui for a couple years, and there have been a few bad fires in the past, but this is devastation. Spent a lot of time in Lahaina, it is unrecognizable. 🥵

Heartbreaking. I hope we can come together as an American community to help these families restart, otherwise I fear the locals may struggle to secure the funding necessary to rebuild. Meanwhile, local politicians are going to need to resist letting the corporate resorts come in to “help rebuild.” You do that and they’ll undercut the prices of the local establishments and underpay their local employees.

This breaks my heart, my husband and was just there Lahaina not too long a go for my birthday. Prayers to all the Ohana out there. This is the saddest day for the island of Maui.

Spent two weeks in Lahaina for my wife and I honeymoon two years ago. We love Lahaina and everything it offered. We even have a tribute to Lahaina in our home office. Art and Lahaina items we got. Prayers for Maui 🙏🏽🤙🏽😢 I miss Lahaina so much and I’m so sad
