Lara Fabian highly appreciated Dimash's performance in China and officially announced her desire to meet with him in person.
On her Facebook page, the singer wrote:

You should keep in mind that this performance is at a singing contest, where a singer is meant to showcase all their skills in a couple of minutes. I also want to point out that, that week, Dimash was the winner, like the other past weeks with S.O.S. and OPERA 2.

I’ve always admired how much courage Dimash has. The way he’s willing to put himself out there and be vulnerable in order to give his audience an emotional performance in their own language❤ He always impresses me so much. It takes so much guts to perform a song on live TV in a language you don’t speak. I believe he only knew a few English words at this point.❤

Но представьте, молодой парень один среди мостодонтов музыки в чужой стране, стесненный временем и требованиями правил конкурса. Has anyone yet given the rundown of what he was doing here? Dressed in the blue of his nation's flag, Dimash was fighting to stay on the Songer another week. He sang his heart out! ❤❤❤ And he stayed alive in the competition! ❤❤❤ I love this one a lot. Can't wait for you to hear more, more more of our Prince Dimash. ❤❤❤

Also the other competitors gave him kneepads because he threw himself down on the ground in this performance. 😂

I speak 4 languages and diction is always a challenge. That's why we have accents! But singing in a foreign language is REALLY hard. And English is VERY difficult to sing in. We have so many diphthongs that don't exist in many other languages. They are difficult to pronounce - "th" for example - while speaking let alone singing; they can sound harsh or stunted and completely change the feel of a song. I LOVE that Dimash doesn't let that stop him, AND that he also works so hard on improving his skills. He's so inspiring!

Regarding Dimash's English language evolution, I think he doesn't have any great number of English speakers, particularly native speakers, surrounding him. He comes from central Asia and the closest neighbours to Kazakhstan are Russia and China. The old Soviet Union ruled his country until 1991 and so he grew up speaking Russian as well as Kazakh. When he entered the Singer competition he began learning Mandarin and he hears them and speaks to them often. English, not so much so his development is likely slower. He is a very bright man to say the least and he improves all the time but his English may always be accented and part of his charm. At every concert he welcomes his audience and says, "Thank you for your coming". I love this charming saying. It is so Dimash to me. Thank you Richard and Johnny, as always.
