It all sound great but I just fell right in the front of the Waianae police station prior to the incident up Waianae valley . Not one police officer came out of the station . With all the cameras and parked vehicles I was shocked . And even with so much traffic not a kind word of do you need help ? Nothing ! Public safety needs to step up your efforts. I’m 75 I had just picked a few items at Waianae store and was heading to buy a coffee at the new shop by 7-11 . I ended up getting a real bad infection from the injuries on my knees

It's a good idea and in the right spirit. Praying that the fruit will these seeds planted will bear witness to a sea change for the better in the community.

The police and city and county can reduce costs on cameras from electronic recycling plants that can be given to the homes of who ever wants a surveilance camera! It can also get volubteers on DiY security projects from local programmers and or community with special i.t, skills to help in keeping a security cam for homes or even the city and county of the west!

Noting the officer shortage right off the top (a nationwide issue), I've also noted that one seldom sees HPD vehicles on routine patrol anywhere on the island.
So, of course, the only time kids, or anyone, tends to see police is when they're called to an incident.

It will be hard for anyone who knows Hawaiian history to think the police or anything but occupiers of a Nation till this day. If they want to be sweet they should offer the truth.

The problem is not that they think the police are the bad guys it's that there is no police presence on the west side. Putting Serving ice cream will not solve the problem.
