Even good things can be enhanced. The Orient Bambino is the model watch enthusiast recommend when a newbie asks for an affordable automatic watch. Now the Japanese brand has released a new model with four variants. The new Orient Bambino Small Seconds follow the classic line of the bambino as a hassle free dress piece but NOW they wen the last mile.

Watch of the Week.
This is a series of brief review videos about recently introduced wrist watches. Every Monday I give you in about 4 minutes an overview about style, specs, price and availability of a new timepiece. From 100 Euros or US-Dollar up to 10,000, from Timex, Alpina and Longines to Rolex and Zenith.
It's not a commercial, so you will hear my independent and unbiased opinion.

If not stated otherwise product images in this video are under the copyright of Orient Watch.

For me the last mile is when they bring out the one with the Arabic numbers and champagne dial.

Thank you Mr. Tim for this review. The Seiko Bambino have a lot of fans. The champagne version of this model is quite nice to me. Greetings from Patagonia itself, in the middle of a big night storm. Nature unleashed like this reminds me how small we humans are.

Not a beginner or entry level watch guy, but I want to add this to my collection as an office/dressy beater watch that I don’t have to worry much about. Hopefully I don’t get judged as a “beginner” watch enthusiast. I think this ticks a lot of boxes for me. Can’t go wrong for $300

I want an 36 mm, no date, ivory bambino, solid caseback. Manual wind ok too.

Orient did tasteful decisions in all Bambinos regarding aesthetics and movements despite the excessive use of date functions, but they still can't figure out a correct set of dimensions for them as <<dress watches>>.

I bet a classic 36mm x 42mm with 18mm lug width, no-date and perhaps with domed sapphire would be a huge success.

I noticed a store worker wearing a Bambino and commented positively about it. It was his first mechanical watch. He must have found a good one because in the many months that he owned it, he had not had to adjust the time. There was another budding enthusiast!

Price seems high compared to what it's been historically but I am sure it will come down. I personally like the VI numeral, it's smaller instead of cutting it out. It's an unusual and cool touch

Thanks for the review Tim. I've wait for you to review this piece.
Like everyone, it would be nice if Orient deleted the date function.

An Orient Bambino v2 with a smaller dial and small seconds - what's not to like?
Still, I'm waiting for a smalle version of the current 41mm small seconds with champagne dial. That I would like even more.

Still improving but I think they could go a little further with a sapphire crystal and a better strap.

The less contrasting numerals look much better, batons would be a further improvement. My only Orient is a Kamasu which has the same accuracy spec but typically runs about +3s/day so this may be the same.

Ordered the gold plated version.

I will not wear it often despite appreciation for the new design.

I just feel that my collection must pay respect to the Bambino.

They're beautiful pieces but all 3 of my Orient watches have let me down, in terms of reliability. They could've just used an NH35 and solved the whole thing.

Orient is underated breand, they have the image of asian watch for poor country like philipine or vietnam, but i worn diferent orient and always works perfectly, i have an orient super king crystalcreissue, very criticate by a lot of youtuber, but she is realy 1970 looking, confortable, good quality and afordable, orient desreve more interest and less snobism, of course they need to find an iconic model who could change there bad image like citizen with tsuyosa
