The Rokes - Let's Live For Today (aka Piangi Con Me) (1967)

The Rokes were a pop rock band formed in 1963 in Italy by English expatriates. Their most successful songs included "Piangi con Me", the original version of "Let's Live for Today", a US hit when re-recorded by The Grass Roots; and "Che Colpa Abbiamo Noi", an Italian language version of "Cheryl's Going Home" by Bob Lind.

I have a midnight confession to make. I always assumed it was a great Grass Roots original, when actually, the Grass Roots were the ones who did a great job covering a great song.
Kudos to The Rokes.
The Grass Roots released their version in May of 1967. It was an anthem for flower children/hippies during the Summer of Love ☮️

I’m familiar with the Grassroots version but, this version is done differently and Rocks. If this is the original version it was done well and has the same 60’s message, “Let’s Live For Today”. The Grassroots stapled this song when it became their hit when it defined the Counter Culture Revolution. It’s a great song because this is a song that defines the 60’s.

This original Italian version b y The Rokes became "Live For Today." Had nothing to do with "Cheryl's Coming Home."
