back in the eighties, given i was not attending my team Fortuna Dusseldorf, either home or away, i was at home, playing Subbuteo and listening to BFBS Germany. Most of the time, they reported the full send half and finally got all the results the from James Alexander Gordon. My favourite commentator was Peter Jones back in the day. At the same time, i was listening to our local station (WDR 2), as they had their Bundesliga Radio Show between 3 and five. The Radio Station was sitting in Cologne, so was Part of the BFBS Germany. Always, when it came to the end, our german comentator, mostly Kurt Brumme rang his colleague, who was Toby Charles by then. And Kurt always started the phone call with, what the weather like in England Toby ? And Toby replied, that it was heavy storms over Sunderland, bright skies over Liverpool or heavy rain at Ipswich and then reading out all the results. Then came a bit of small talk and that was it. We all thought, that Kurt was ringing Toby in England, somewhere and we all felt a bit like sitting at Goodison, Roker Park or whatever the main story from was al about. However, Toby didnt ring from England as he sat somewhere in the BFBS Studios in Cologne, not that far away from the WDR Premises at Wallraff-Platz. We all had a big laugh when it all came out. Watching your videos brings back memories about those coasy afternoons, hoem at the Subbuteo Table, listening to german and uk football . Thanks for that Dean :-)
