I designed a game console that is already obsolete.

Can we design a console that feels like it's right out of the 80s? Maybe.

It's like a glorious cross between a PC Engine and an Amstrad GX.

Man I’m just so impressed by the production quality and generally content, that’s crazy for such a recent channel. Keep going this is really top quality content ❤️

For the Plastic for the Console and Cartridges I recommend Resin Casting. It will give you a plastic feel closer to what you want. Robert Tolone, Brick in the Yard, and Crafsman Steady Craftin for tutorials. Also Plastic Geek is great person to ask for advice.

I got this video recommended, and I was not expecting it to be as high quality as it was. Can't wait to see what else you cook up! And keep up the good work 👊

To give you some product designer insight to make it feel more like a retail item, think about the end user and marketing. Little things like the sticker on the game should be flipped so it’s properly viewed when inserted. This would have been something that would have been done so product photos showed off a game as well.

I like how you brought back the TurboGrfx / PCEngine design vibe, I had one of those and it was amazing.

Amazing build! Can’t wait to try it. I reckon the two ports on the front could be great for peripherals - a VCR style player for movies, a slide projector for photos etc. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

very cool project, tho i must admit that the framework board used is massively overkill and would hardly be seen as "obsolete hardware"

this is amazing. you should make the cartridge labels flipped so they are seen the right way up when plugged in

At first, I thought this video was pure clickbait, but you using Framework Laptop 13 parts reminded me: I had dreamt of making something similar, but rather than make a late '80s console, I wanted to make a mid '90s laptop.

I designed my own game console also. Tha was a 2 yr long journey and i loved doing it. Spent a lot but learned and enjoyed a LOT. So cool to see someone else doing the same. Mine was a portable 3D printed arcade, but i am in love with your console. Congrats for the results and thanks for sharing this video !

This man is the king of using stock footage in context. It’s great

00:10 They were simple and comfortable to the touch.
Today, everything is so complicated and out of touch with what we need... What we truly want.

Thank you so much! The cart design is exactly what I've been wanting to design for the longest time. You nailed it!
