Drivers: "Why don't Bikes ride where they're supposed to ride"? Bike Lanes provided--Car drivers: "We don't like it"

What a terribly biased way to frame this story. The reporter should be ashamed

I started bicycling to Publix, Walmart, Lowes, etc. It's helpful to build communities around stores that are within a reasonable distance. It's amazing how stress free the experience is compared to driving.

> I don't know why there is a bike lane here. A block away there is a super safe bike there.

I don't understand why there is a car lane here. A block away there is a super safe car lane.

You can park ten bicycles in the same space it takes to park a car and they don't stink or damage peoples hearing either . Many people on bicycles actually have more disposable income because it's not wasted on cars . The money That I save because I bicycle is spent in local mom and pop stores in my county. Bicycles also do zero damage to asphalt. Bicyclng improves everything It improves peoples hearts, circulation, and well-being. It can keep your weight down so there is less chances of diabetes, stroke and so on . Bicyclng is not for everyone but the people who can bicycle should bicycle.

Try bicycling sometime. You'll be healthier, happier, and save money, too.

lol they show the other bike lanes on the other street that are supposed to be fine :D right okay, the worst type of bike lanes, in the parking lane, in the door zone, this is what we're supposed to settle for :D and we gotta dip over to some other street to do it --- look if you want cycletracks that actually get used, build them all over, build them abruptly, build them with drivers in mind, the drivers who want to switch some of their trips to cycling, and give them something they can switch to... this long awkward transitional period sucks for everyone

wow I never saw a news show give so much time to bike lanes. lol they want more study? here in Toronto we created the most studied, most researched set of cycletracks ever, along Bloor street... when it was installed, the news people said "oh but THE PEOPLE are opposed to it, it's destroying business, " etc etc, cleaming it was causing insane traffic jams. So they went there live during rush hour but there wasn't any congestion so they had to say "oh well usually it's a lot worse, right now it's not so bad, uhh okay mark back to you." Now on Yonge street here we got a bunch of THE PEOPLE saying "oh we're LANDLOCKED, we can't go anywhere without using this road and now there's cycletracks on it so we can't get anywhere" They keep saying "landlocked" over and over again as if it's a thing, so I checked it out and what they didn't mention is that they were landlocked by their own traffic calming measures on their sidestreets - so this "can't go anywhere without using Yonge Street" thing could be solved by removing a couple bits of chain that they put in to block off their own streets. So having heard so much BS over the years against cycletracks, i can say hey I don't know this place, don't know those businesses, maybe everything they're saying is true, but they're saying a lot of the typical things that indicate that they're full of it. Like "oh there's already another bike lane three blocks over." Hah heard that one before. Man cycling in Toronto sucked when we were still in that era. You'd have to go so far out of the way just to get to someplace that was usable, then find the right cross-street, then go back to the main street, and hope the business you're trying to visit is where you thought it was. Oh there's no cyclists using the cycletrack? Let me guess: it was put in because they were resurfacing the road anyway, it's not really connected to anything, it doesn't really offer drivers a cycling network that they can switch any of their trips to, it's designed to be part of some future network that'll be useful when it's complete, and it's gonna be done in these tiny little bits, so carefully to make sure not to anger the drivers too much, because of course we gotta do this so gradually, you know the opposite of the way we put in driving infrastructure. We do whatever the drivers say. Drivers say "don't do it all at once!" so we do it step by step. Drivers say "nobody's using them!" so we remove them and keep forcing everyone to drive. Here in Toronto we have finally turned the page on that and abandoned that losing game. For the most part. So now, driving sucks just like it did fifteen years ago, but if you actually need to get across the city without being slowed down, it's now possible. Wasn't possible before.

Sure, one person from one car could go into the business. But with the bike lane, 20 more people on bikes could go!

This is HORRIBLE reporting KUSI. No interviews with actual cyclists, no explanation why commuters might need more than one bike lane to get to actually GET to places, why cyclists might need shorter distances than drivers to get around (duh), why the other bike lane is DANGEROUS, why people aren’t cycling in the new lanes yet (no reporter even points out the car parked IN the bike lane or makes the connection with the truck parked in the bike lane).

The protestors conspiracy theories are utterly idiotic. If anything bike lanes will allow people who can’t afford a car, gas, insurance, and maintenance to get to these places and get around the city. The real conspiracy is about people wanting free parking everywhere they go. The streets don’t just belong to car drivers.

Are you guys a Faux News subsidiary?!

I love the bike lanes . Bike lanes make sense. Bicycle lanes work everywhere except America . Why is that ? Most peopl live too far from work and they are also lazy .

or they can just get out of their cars and bike to where they want to go. I don't understand their ideas of conspiracy when really it just comes down to car addiction.
