The relative strength index (RSI) is a popular momentum indicator that was developed by Welles Wilder in the 1970s. Underpinning it is the concept that prices have a tendency to close higher in uptrends and tend to close lower in downtrends. IGTV’s Victoria Scholar explains how to use the RSI indicator to generate buy and sell signals, to see when an instrument is overbought or oversold and to spot early trend change signals.
