Alcaraz did what Djokovic used to do to other players for years. He broke him mentally in the first game by not giving up

Alcaraz used to have a low start, but this one is a huge start. Nole was absolutely surprised.

For those who do not know, Alcaraz has broken a new record and he has done so in this Wimbledon 2024, he is the player who has made the most winners in the history of this tournament...

319 WINNERS!!! 😱😱😱😱😱

Alcaraz really made Djokovic work that knee. This boy will be up there with the big 3.

The first game Alcaraz showed us that he is different, he can keep clam and the consistency. I think not many players can do that.

This first game of this match reminded me of the 25-minute game in the third set of the previous year's final. Alcaraz was already up a break and he kept grinding to make it two breaks up and take the third set. Djokovic won the fourth set and then Alcaraz won the decider, and the rest is history.

Carlos gave a mental toughness too. Psychologically strong and dominant. He needs to keep this up bcos he is already good game-wise.

I thought Djokovic could win that Tiebreaker and ultimately the game...but not against this 21 years old special talent. All credits to Alcaraz. WHAT a skill..WHAT a speed!

Alcaraz gifting Djokovic the break just so he can style on him in a tiebreaker

This was the beginning of Alcaraz as a legendary player

This long deuce game was a sequel to last year's epic 26 minute deuce game in the 5th game of the 3rd set. Both of these titanic deuce games were won by Alcaraz to eventually break Novak's serve, and both ended up deciding the outcome of both finals.

Alcaraz broke Djokovic's soul with this break

i have a feeling Carlos wanted to send a message like he did in set 3 last year. there is no guarantee he would have broken, but people don't talk about his return of serve enough. he reads Novak's serve extremely well. even in the ATP finals last year, he was locked in on return initially but not used to the speed and bounce. he will improve even more indoors. just a matter of time.

Honestly, I've never seen Nole so stressed and tense at the beginning of any other Wimbledon final he played.

Djoko has been half a step slower all year. Not just due to his knee surgery. It was noticeable in Melbourne also.

Nice to see Stefan Djokovic watch his idol play against his father. 🤗

Missed first serves, 4 unforced errors and the tactic to serve and volley and go for too much cost Djokovic this game. Smart tactic by Alcaraz as he chose to receive after winning the toss. He went for it and played perfectly in this game. Djoko had the right strategy to be more aggressive but perhaps he should have done that on Alcaraz's serve not his own as it backfired in this first game.
