Sylvia McNair, Soprano - Roger Vignoles, Piano.

Gabriel Fauré, a prominent French composer and pianist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is widely celebrated for his lyrical melodies and rich harmonic textures. One of his enchanting works is "Au bord de l'eau," a beautiful song that exemplifies his mastery of vocal composition and piano accompaniment.

"Au bord de l'eau," which translates to "By the Water," is part of Fauré’s larger body of art songs, known as mélodies. This piece captures the essence of nature and the tranquil beauty of water, evoking a sense of longing and introspection. The song's delicate piano lines complement the vocal melody, creating a serene atmosphere that resonates deeply with listeners.

Fauré's ability to convey emotion through music is evident in "Au bord de l'eau." The subtle nuances in the vocal delivery allow performers to explore a range of feelings, from nostalgia to yearning. The song often features in recitals and is cherished by both singers and audiences for its lyrical charm.

As a key figure in French music, Gabriel Fauré's "Au bord de l'eau" remains a beloved work in the classical repertoire. Its timeless beauty continues to inspire musicians and captivate audiences, making it a standout piece in the world of art song. Whether you are discovering Fauré for the first time or revisiting his works, "Au bord de l'eau" is a perfect example of his artistic brilliance and emotional depth

@ceciliadlibitum She is a professional Opera singer, it is her job to know what she is singing about, foreign language or not.

That is a ridiculous statment ceciliadibitum. Understanding the poetry is a basic process in being a great singer and artist and hence why she has such a wonderful voice. Great voices don't just make sounds, they are using their whole instrument, including their interpretation.

L'eau murmurer. Le temps durer. Qu'a s'adorer. Les ignore. Sans se lasser. Ne point passer. Ne point passer.
et encore....

Lovely voice. Sung too fast and too "bright". Lacking in pathos.
