Proposed California bill could make it easier for undocumented immigrants to own homes

A new proposed bill working its way through Sacramento could make it easier for undocumented immigrants to purchase a home in California.

AB 1840 adds specific wording about immigration status to the "California Dream For All” program, which is the state’s down payment assistance program. It says applicants should not be disqualified based on their immigration status.

It provides a 20% down payment. Would a bank be willing to loan the other 80% on someone in danger of deportation, if such a thing still exists? Or will we see the next step of having to create a program to guarantee the loans and then forgiving them like student loans? I was born here in the u.s., and have worked all my adult life and when i tried to get into one of the new homes being built here in town, i was told i dont qualify. 3 weeks later, the same house i was hoping to get into was full of people. Like 12 people. 2 families living in that house, carnival music, live mariachi band till 3am, cars packed in the street, and none of em speak english, none of them legal citizens, driving big 2024 king ranch pick ups. I dont understand how this is happening.
