If it wouldn’t have gotten so painfully slow, I’d probably still be using my S5. I used it from 2014-2019, it’ll always be my all-time favorite smartphone!

I just recently picked up a refurbished S5 for really cheap. Despite the fresh system restore, TouchWiz is slow AF. Fortunately the S5 is one of the Samsung phones that can have the bootloader unlocked, which allows for easy firmware replacement. I've now put LineageOS on mine (which runs Android 11 with recent security updates). It runs so much faster now, it feels like a brand new phone. Don't let the poor factory software hold you back from enjoying this phone!

My dad and stepmom got me and my sister this phone when we we're younger. We had the choice between an iPhone 5S or this one. We both picked the iPhone 5S. Store had none so we ended up getting this one though. Glad it ended up happening that way as having this phone turned me into a Samsung fan. I have the Galaxy S23 now and I love it. Samsung's are great phone's. Never had a problem with any of the one's I had. I loved them all. Loved the S5 when I had it.

I had iphones up to the 5 then I got this phone and fell in love with it. I bought an iPhone 6 after having this and just couldn't do it and went back and got a galaxy s6 and have had galaxys since. This phone had one of the best battery life's and I had a extra battery. Could get 3-4 days out of 2 batterys

I find this phone to be pretty good. I used it back in 2018-2019 and even though the camera was bad, the colors were pretty accurate and it’s lack of clearness made it cozy and unique (my snapchat friends actually disliked when I went to upgraded IPhone…) Definitely one of the better android cameras.

A quote I really like is, “if you’re going to do something, do it well. Reject mediocrity.” What do you need a phone to do? You need it to call and text people. Every other aspect of a phone can be farmed out to something else. Buy a point and shoot camera. Use a laptop. If the basic functionality of the phone still works, why not use it? I don’t see the point in needing to buy the newest, latest and greatest phone just because it has a better camera or is slightly faster. To me it’s a waste of money. AT&T still supports the s5.

My first smartphone! I remember asking for a smartphone for years but my dad didn’t even want me to have a basic phone with a touchscreen because it was $10 more a month just for the touchscreen 😂

This guy has the most unexpected videos. I can literally type any flagship and midgradr phone from any year and todays year and he has a video of it.

I own a Galaxy S5, and I've a few things to note.

•The Camera is still pretty impressive. Sure, it does not capture detailed shots. Heck, the phone can't even beat the J2 core in terms of photo detail when zooming into them, but....

The video is just so-so good on this device. It has OIS, which allows for some smooth videos in low-light and great light scenarios. It even has HDR video, if I recall correctly. And the videos it takes overall are just great, still. It's vibrant. Colors look accurate, if not, a bit saturated. Smooth and somehow clear videos. There's very little processing which makes videos and photos look natural as long as you're not zooming in them. Yes, there is noise, but I wouldn't even call them annoying. Their just there.

•Securitywise, as long as you're not planning on using your main accounts on this device, it's pretty much fine. If you're a minimal user. Older android phones are a definite Go, only until the iPhone 7, which you should pick over any other android alternative at that point...unless you're into gaming.

•I used the device until 2020, which is amazing. I didn't care much about software updates, neither do I still today. The Galaxy S5 was able to play MLBB smoothly in 2019, where the iPhone 6 could barely even run the damned thing. The software was what was bugging the phone down, and I wished I had booted a custom ROM into it before I put it to rest. I'd say that the performance aged like wine, like every android phone has until the arrival of the iPhone 8 and X.

Conclusion. If you're looking for a cheap, reliable, and good phone for some work, the Galaxy S5 may work for you. But I'd highly recommend just going with the S6. Just don't take it too seriously. And I don't think the device is currently supported in the US anymore...not networkwise, at least. The phone is also, surprisingly easy to use..and it's not the way you're thinking of. The display is just as wide as a handful of bigger devices nowadays, which makes for a familiar experience. There's enough space for your fingers to move across, but you can reach all the corners without much of a stretch, which I greatly appreciate.

If you're a busybody and is concerned about security, the iPhone 6 might work, but I highly suggest just going with the 8, skip the 7.

Though, the iPhones would still offer a more stable and smoother software and casual app experience than the Android devices of their respective years because IOS. Android was, softwarewise, a mess back then. Though they perform better now, you can tell, from a far, that Android used to be shit.

Try reviewing how the Kyocera kwc2135 holds up in 2023. It was my first smartphone that I remember getting shortly after I graduated highschool in May of 2002. I think the phone itself came out in 2001. Would be interesting to see how it holds up over 21 years later.

I STILL own S5 Active with camoflauge color since 2014-till today. But I am looking Xcover Pro 6 because instagram is not useable. I have only 16GB on the phone although I have Micro Sd 128 GB but I cant use many major and apps no more. Really nice phone I have but feauters are old or else i would still have it.

I will never give phone away. I also bought Supcase Unicorn Bettle full rugged case so it would not survive till now. I will always keep this phone.
