McDonalds has a unique business plan where they make money through real-estate. They invest in real-estate and invest in assets to make money. However the money behind the McDonalds business is a sinister sign of where society is headed. McDonalds is recession proof because of it's real-estate assets. Here's why McDonalds is bad...

The main issue I have with maccas is how much it appeals to kids. The ones who most need to eat healthy cram themselves with glorified junk, and it has a major effect on our culture's wellbeing.

It always outraged me that in my country, when the majority of businesses were forced to close for lockdowns, McDonalds was still considered an "essential" business and allowed to remain open. When obesity is a huge contributing factor to more severe illness, it's pure insanity.

Didn’t think of that until you mentioned it: fast-food chains MUST love this whole “body positivity” movement where people who are overweight are told it’s ok to be that way. Maybe they’re behind that whole thing?

I remember back in 00's when some guys were trying to sue McDonalds people called them crazy.
And once again, craziest people appear to be right.

I abandoned McDonald's nearly 30 years ago after working there. I've never looked back. Zero regrets.

When I was a kid, McDonald's was a serious treat for my parents to take me there; it wasn't very often at all, maybe once a month because they usually cooked from home healthier meals.
I worked at McDonald's at 18 and I would see regular families multiple times a week eating this crap and they'd all get large combos even the children.

as an employee at mcdonald’s i can wholeheartedly agree with everything you’ve said here. i remember during lockdown in the UK i seemed to be craving mcdonald’s, but throughout that time i was also probably the healthiest i’ve been. it genuinely was so strange going back to it and for half a year i actually went in to every shift with my own food, it doesn’t help the employees that we get free meals on our break. the food itself is strangely addictive, i’m not a huge fan of the food but it still doesn’t stop me eating it for some reason. it’s a difficult one

Some wise words from my father - when people are miserable and their economies are in shambles people will resort to 4 basic comforts - smoking, drinking, gambling and eating. The 4 cheapest forms of basic consumerism within their means.

When I was a kid my brother and I were dropped off at my grandparents every weekend, half of what they fed us was mcdonald's. The other half being gas station snacks and sometimes a home-cooked waffle. At 13 I was 5ft 11 and 275 pounds. Very unfortunate that people dump this crap on kids without considering consequences.

“McDonalds makes money when you are poor and miserable.” This line alone makes me rethink buying that Egg & Cheese biscuit today…

The recession-proof business model also means that when we reach a healthy society, we will leave McDonald's behind.

People are slowly learning just how much evil is actually in this world. I've always been into weird/consp things, but I didn't believe alot of things. Four years ago I truly "woke up" it was a horrifying experience, but it truly opened my eyes. Now I question everything, things I use to laugh at and think was absolutely insane I've realized are very real.
They Live wasn't a sci-fi movie, it was a documentary! An im afraid more accurate than you could imagine.

I'm surprised you made no mention of the biochemists they hire to make the food digest faster, make you feel less full, and to alter it into becoming more addictive than it already is.

I’ve only been to a McDonald’s 4 times in my entire life. As a child I yearned for McDonald’s, all the other children talked about how amazing it was and how good the food was. My Mom always made home cooked meals at home and we never really went to fast food chains. when I entered a McDonald’s for the first time (on a class trip) I was so exited to try a burger. However after I tried it I realized how disgusting it tasted, the fries were so salty, the burger made me want to vomit and I had a huge stomach ace after. I’m happy my parents steered me clear away from this

Back in the 90s, my cousins (parents + 2 kids at the time) visited from Austria. While playing tour guide for them they were always insistent on eating at McD's during our little side trips despite most of us craving other quality fixings. It had turned out the reason they were so addicted to McDonald's was because the golden arches had only set up shop in their part of Austria a few years prior.

I'm glad I live in a country where it's 3x cheaper to eat healthy home cooked food than fast food

When I was a child and my mother took us to the dentist, when leaving we were given a ticket for a free cheeseburger from McDonald's. My brother and I were so excited. Looking back now that seems really strange that the dentists promoted that..

The Founder is a great movie that shows how Kroc screwed over the McDonald brothers to steal their successful company.
