CMMC Is Like Car Inspections

CMMC is like a state's car inspection program.

Since 2017, defense contractors have been self-attesting that their 100-year-old jalopies are safe to drive (DFARS 7012)!

The government quickly realized that guys with names like Billy Compliant Bob don't always tell the truth.

So they asked contractors to inspect the vehicle using a checklist and submit a score (DFARS 7019).

They even started to independently test the safety of some of these vehicles themselves (DFARS 7020)!

But the government doesn't have the resources to inspect all of the jalopies out there.

Enter the accredited third-party mechanics to whom the government has outsourced the inspections to (C3PAOs).

Soon you'll need a sticker from a mechanic to drive on the highway.

Said another way, you'll need to be CMMC certified (or compliant) to win DoD contracts (DFARS 7021)!

Is your muffler FIPS compliant? Do you have a system security plan - I mean driver's manual?!? 😂
