if you use a silicone mask over the HA for several minutes it will help with hydration. I use one with all of my treatments. It works super well and you can reuse the mask forever. Just make sure you disinfect it. the mask keeps your treatments moist, which helps them work better. I also press with my fingers and palms as I am treating.

I completely agree that way too many people use HA and other humectants incorrectly! It’s also a little crazy to me how people seem to think it’s this magic ingredient when it’s really just a humectant and I want to see a lot more in a formulation than a humectant. And I’m glad to hear you telling people that dry climates don’t mean you have to avoid HA, you just have to use carefully since you don’t have that extra source of moisture thanks to the humidity ♥️

I often hear how humectants draw moisture from the deeper skin and that’s so bad... but this doesn’t seem to be supported by evidence. If anything, it’s how humectants work. The dermis contains 60-70% of our skin’s water content and can be rehydrated thanks to its blood vessels where the epidermis loses a lot of moisture to external factors like cleansing/environment and isn’t vascular. From what I can find in the literature, the only potential issue is the evaporation like you talk about - you don’t want that moisture you’ve drawn to the surface of the skin where it’s needed to evaporate and worsen dehydration.

Hi. I have been using the Ordinary HA. I spritz my face prior to use with Avene water. does the trick. But im so going to start using the Rose Water what agreat idea. Much love from the UK.

My problem is I still break out at age 48, so I use differin jel and it dries my skin out. I do use moisturizer but I'm often still more dry. I live in Pa.
