This guy I played did this but with a backspin/topspin serve instead of side to side. The serves looked identical but depending if he hit ball as paddle cut forward or backward it would have back or top spin and made it insanely hard to return

The hardest is the one that comes BACK after getting past the net by a little

Its nearly impossible to toss the ball straight up and hit a reverse pendulum. In all reverse pendulum serves the toss is at best slightly tossed towards the body of the server. Umps never call it but in my brain i always get Uh... "ick".
