Set me free, why don't you babe?
Get out my life, why don't you babe (ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo)
You really don't want me, you just keep me hangin' on
You really don't need me, you just keep me hangin' on

Why do ya keep comin' around, playin' with my heart?
Why don't you get out of my life and let me try to make a new start?
Let me get over you the way you've gotten over me

Set me free, why don't ya babe?
Get out my life, why don't ya now?
You really don't want me, you just keep me hangin' on
You really don't need me, you just keep me hangin' on

You said that we broke up, you just wanna be friends
But how can we still be friends when seein' ya only breaks my heart again?
There ain't nothin' I can do about it

You know I need love (set me free why don't ya, babe?)
Talkin' 'bout love (get out my life, why don't ya, babe?)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo)
You really don't want me, you just (keep me hangin' on)
You really don't need me, you just (keep me hangin' on)

Get out my life, why don't ya babe (ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo)
Get out my life, why don't you babe (ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo)
Get out my life, why don't you babe (ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo)
Get out my life, why don't you babe?

My girl and I, eighth graders at the time, saw Vanilla Fudge perform this song, live, in the Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth, Texas in 1968. Killed it. Haha, just remembered, what a great song, and realized, I'm old AF.

"Im the devil and I am here to do the devil's business."
"Nah, it was dumber than that. It was something like.... Rex?"
"Shoot him, Tex!"

This is the bomb! Vanilla Fudge! Yeah! There was a long version by them and I think this was it!! Love this song immensely! And to add this song still telling.my story! I must get the guys who don't know anything about women. It makes me remember besides my ex, that there was a love in my life I should have kept it!! He would have never turned to drugs f it weren't for me. Yes I feel responsible, He was a son of the preacher man in my newly claimed church at 16 going on 17 in one month. I did not want to get married, I wanted to be a veterinarian! And ended up as a nurse and loved my job. This is my 2nd husband of 30/years and cone to find out he's a malignant narcopath! There's 30+ diagnosis & symptoms, it ONLY TAKES 5 to know he's one. He passed all 30 + symptoms and more. No one can help hm, sad but true. They are demons- sorry find out as you educate yourself with narcissistic abuse, I lived it. Divorced going on 2 years now. COVD-19 came through and now I can't sell it, no one has any $. He lives next door- yes he and his daughter are both MNP disorder, the most dangerous besides the covert. BUT I LOVE THS SONG! FITS TO A T! Enjoy I am. Take care and please be SAFE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I love this song. The Supremes' original and the Kim Wilde version, too. (I lived this kind of relationship for 25 years. I have no tolerance for users anymore.)

Best version hands down.
I feel like it has more meaning. Idk why just feels more emotional. Angerness mixed with sadness.

SirusXM Deep Tracks with another gem I’d never heard prior. Never thought I’d jam out to a Supremes original, BUT HERE I AM!

I'd like to thank Mafia 3 for exposing me to this great cover. It even has the original version.

Good grief, I'll admit it...😂...not a single party in 69 at VA Tech or in 70 at Auburn was without this gorgeous song blaring and every single kid dancing their heart out. 😊🎶❤️

There was a 13 minute version that held the record for the longest record played on rock stations . 💕💕 I believe it was the entire side on this album.

If I remember correctly, these guys played at a small place on Long Beach Island, NJ.  Late 60s, maybe?  I was too young (in my parent's eyes) to go see them.
