Much of this can be said about Luffy too. Luffy and Blackbeard both are much more active and adventurous than most other pirates, while the other pirates tend to have more specific, focused goals with more narrow spheres of influence. Blackbeard is going around, wrecking power dynamics and territories, but all of One Piece is also Luffy wrecking power dynamic and territories. It just further supports the idea of Blackbeard being a sort of antithesis or dark mirror to Luffy.

I love the human aspect of Blackbeard. He’s not a Big Mom Kaido type of tank. He gets hurt he makes mistakes but he always gets up and gets the job done. We get to see his growth throughout the story. He is the perfect rival to Luffy. His crew even talks crap to him how Luffy’s crew does

The best part about Blackbeard is that he isn't presented as some kind of God-like figure in the beginning who is being hyped up as someone totally unbeatable just for Luffy to inevitably kick the shit out of later. He's a regular dude who has very blatant flaws and lapses of judgement that almost always takes damage during his fights because of them. He also defies the setting he's in by saying "Why would I train and get stronger or use this Haki junk if I can just eat a fruit and become strong?"

Everytime luffy fights the big bad of an arc, he loses or is at an utter disadvantage at first and then rebounds stronger then ever through sheer willpower
Everytime blackbeard fights his "antagonist" he is also at a disadvantage at first but then later rebounds back through his cunning wits

9:53 That’s a great point. Blackbeard‘s “People dreams never end“ speech is one of my favourite moments of the series. I can’t wait to see the dialogue between him and Luffy.

In their conversation Luffy‘s true dream might even be revealed to highlight the difference between them.

every villain in One piece: *waits for protagonist to come to them*
blackbeard: "ayo ima go to the protagonist's house."

Blackbeard is a Palpatine-level villain.
It's amazing that he had the patience and ability to spend 22 years of his life pretending to be a harmless mediocrity behind Whitebeard's shadow and not even hesitate to kill a nakama despite all the time they spent together is terrifying.
He then proceeds to lead the WG around like puppets, giving them Ace as a ticket to get Sichibukai's position, which allows him to enter Impel Down and get a first-class crew, as well as have the navy kill Whitebeard for him using Fire Fist as a red cape to lure him towards Marineford, just so he can show up at the last moment, finish him off and steal his ability, which openshim the way to the position of Yonkou.
He is undoubtedly an evil genius on a Sith level, he used conflict and chaos to bring down his most powerful rivals, bring disorder to the world and once the dust settled, he became the undisputed king of the ashes.

The one thing that always interest me about Blackbeard the most is that he never makes any animosity personal. When he greets Ace after his departure, he was happy to see Ace again, conveniently ignoring that he stabbed Thatch before he left and that Ace despises him. And Blackbeard was genuinely confused about Ace’s anger. Or Coby being guarded at him, he sees Coby as a friendly face but doesn’t get that Coby doesn’t feel the same about him.

This contrast with Luffy who makes everything personal to himself so that he could empathised to a person in pain and therefore help them, which makes them grateful in return with no strings attached.

Blackbeard won’t have any genuinely good people on his team because he pissed everyone of them off. While Luffy would have a genuinely loyal team because they like him and want him to succeed for his own happiness.

I've always loved Luffy and Blackbeards encounter in the Impel Down, and the looks that they change with eachothers in the end expecially. So much being said without saying anything.

I think till this moment; Donquixote Doflammingo is the best Villain and Charlotte Katakuri is the best Antagonist of One Piece; but I strongly believe by the time it ends, Blackbeard will surpass both of them....

I think this makes it more possible for blackbeard to be the final villain, since first we have to take down the status quo (WG), and then we have to decide which direction the world will be lead to, either luffy's ideal freedom or blackbeard rule of the strongest freedom

The 2 sisters of Blackbeard where from his character sketches, we can't affirm if Oda scrapped or decided to maintain those ideas, but since he decided to reveal the info anyways, chances are he scrapped the idea, those kind of stuff are the kind of info Oda usually saves up until they become relevant to the story

After latest chapter, I thought how every time Blackbeard does anything, it is very interesting.

Which is similar to what Mihawk said about Luffy:
"You never fail to make a scene worth witnessing"

One interesting parallel is how Teach and Luffy gain things and people. Luffy bonds with the people he meets. He connects with them, helps them, and gains them as friends.
Teach--in line with his devil fruit--pulls them in. He directly takes things he wants: weapons, people, powers. He has a strong fixation with fate, as a fundamental force of reality--just like gravity.

He's sneaky and underhanded, but also menacing yes he's powerful but he isn't a invulnerable brick wall he's also a dreamer

The first time I saw Black Beard he easily became my favorite villain. Hasn't moved from that spot since. I am so excited to see him more and more in the story! The more I see him in the story the more I grow to love him as a villain!

I agree with them bring two sides of the same coin. Unlike all other enemies Blackbeard is the only enemy of Luffy that will not underestimate him. Even when we first met Blackbeard he believed Luffy would get to sky island and tried to stop him before he could leave. And he made moves before the world knew Luffy defeated Kaido. And he was preparing because believed Luffy would win. Luffy may have a grudge with Blackbeard but I feel Blackbeard respects Luffy the most.

Great video, this almost makes me as excited for Blackbeards final arc as I was about the raid failing. Morj I hope you are right because sometimes I think your theories aren't just what might happen, but I think they are often the view of the best way things could play out.

It’s because unlike a lot of One Piece villains he’s on of the only ones that is a darker parallel to Luffy.

BB will definitely be the final villain. The dark side of the will of D is a greater threat to the world than the WG
