The latest iteration of The Oregon Trail might just be another one in the 50 years of this game's lifetime, but this 2021 iteration plays and looks better than ever.

I don’t really play strategy games like this, but was pleasantly surprised how fun it is for a game where you’re in a menu screen half the time. The music and visuals are gorgeous. I didn’t really understand how to play the original in grade school but can finally appreciate it!

Five inch floppy disc on a old macintosh in the computer lab in elementary school.

After all of the updates made I would give this version a near perfect rating. I’m so glad we have this gem on Apple Arcade, it really feels at home in the AA catalog. I have played it countless times and keep coming back for its unique “on a journey” feel. I hope someday they will make a Lord of the Rings or Hobbit journey in it; obviously there would be some licensing to deal with but I think it would be a fun crossover.

played this on PC in school. I have a retro one that's handheld. Pretty much the same. Black and white tho. interesting that Apple is grabbing up all the retro games for it's subscription service.

Most of those edutainment games weren't great, but Oregon trail was one of the exceptions for me.

The game is super fun.
The only people I see hating on it are:

- overly sensitive people who think the entire game is mocking/profiting off of Native American issues

- overly sensitive people who think the game is overly “WOkE” because in the beginning it includes a disclaimer explicitly saying it’s not doing (what the first cirque mentioned.)

Either way it’s a great game in my opinion, I do have some issues with it regarding the time system & the character selection. Overall the game keeps you on your toes, (unlike other games) the choices you choose DO affect gameplay. And can affect your characters values, skills, money, etc overtime. So make sure to make good decisions!!

Would it be worth 20$while still on sale for a day left i think. I can only get 1 game.
but I only played one version of this on thr old mac back on big floppy disc and it was the only gsme we were allowed to play with free time after ya finish ur work jn school. But ya idk if it's as fun as i remember my fav part was the hunting. But I didn't ever get very far died a lot i sucked lol. So im worried I'll get bored just as quickly n then I'll be Mad if id missed a sale on torment instead of this lol. But anyway i digress..
Im stuck between these 3 Plane scape &ice wind dale on xbox. Or this on switch not sure if itd be better mobile maybe. But the last gsme is curse of the moon 2.

Thankfully they updated those sensitivities, what on Earth would we do if someone was offended? Things like Twitter wouldn't exist...

Imagine being so bored with life you find old computer games offensive? What a clown world we live in....

The hunting is very off, 10 pounds of meat for a single deer? Totally balanced....

Looks like a dud game. Too bad there is not a more survival type game with more realism, but that would cost too much to make!

This is a game that is collecting data on our personal values, religious/spiritual values, and decision making ability/judgements. If you play it enough, you'll realize what all the "traits' do and you can beat it every time. However, the purpose of the game IS to collect this data on the players.... FYI from a sociology/psychology point of view this is obvious to me.
