I love how the demon awkwardly blurts "mommy, please" before being slain. It truly doesn't understand what those words mean, beyond how uttering those words seem to make strangers not attack it.

This scene is so good, Himmel is such a good guy he would even give a demon a chance, but Frieren doesn’t have those same sentiments and knows the true nature of demons, but once Himmel realizes his mistake he doesn’t hesitate, also love how Frien makes Himmel say no when she ask if he’ll stop her this time making sure Himmel will never forget his mistake and never make it again

I feel like Himmel knew from the start, but with the type of man he is, he prayed that Frieren was wrong.

I just love how this anime takes everything and flips the expected to unexpected back into expected. The classic story of a 'villain can be redeemed' story, only to backfire straight at them, but i love the bit after this scene more, when the demon beg for mercy and calls out her mom, when frieren ask why, she simply replies 'it stops you from killing us', so not expected, but so freaking well written.

After this Frieren asks why the demon would call out for a mother she doesn't have, which is a bit weird considering how much she knows about demons. My head canon is that she asked it so the others would hear it straight from the demons mouth and leave no reservations

The portrayal of demons in this manga/anime is brilliant. They aren’t overtly monstrous and they aren’t humanized to make you feel sympathy when you understand what they are.

They are cunning and malicious and they prey on human emotions. And that makes them more terrifying than most zombies, demons, or other malevolent spirits. :)

He asked her to talk with the demon but she didn't even bother. "Talking to a demon is a waste of time" - Frieren really never takes their words seriously.

This was a big scene to show no Frierien isn't racist against Demons like some critics. Frierien has lived decades and centuries and has actual numerous life experiences with demons and she knows that yes they look human, and try manipulate people to believe they have emotions etc but shr knows they do not.

Demons in this verse are fully pure evil inhuman monsters.

it's rather interesting the approach they have to this demon. The girl didn't seem to enjoy hurting or doing evil, more so that she really doesn't understand good from wrong.
More so when she said she tried to make things right replacing the dead child for another.

I feel bad for the demons. Not because they're misunderstood, they aren't. I feel bad because they're emotionless and will never understand.
