We have the same way in Sweden, my grandma (who is retired since years back) got back on her taxes… she got back ~$1500 and because she’s a little crazy and I’m taking my driver’s license she just… gave them to me and I couldn’t stop her.
That’s the highest return I have ever heard of for a normal working class citizen.

I structure so I *always* owe taxes. Yeah yeah, I'll give the government what was always theres to begin with. But I'm earning the interest on that in the meanwhile.
The opposite is true when you get a refund. That money was always yours. They were just holding it and collecting interest on it. Then they give you back what was always yours to begin with but they keep the profit.
