Whats a squid that big doing in shallow waters?

Although this particular Skull Island (the actual landmass & physical environment) was perhaps the worst we've ever seen in a King Kong movie, the 2017 Kong himself is easily the best of all time. I love that they didn't opt for animating a giant silverback gorilla writ large the way Peter Jackson did in 2005, but instead decided to honor the brown haired, upright walking primate Willis O'Brien and Marcel Delgato created in the timeless 1933 classic.

If you've ever seen RKO Studios' production notes or you've read the 1931 novel 'King Kong' by Merian C. Cooper & Edgar Wallace, you'll know that Kong was never intended to be a normal gorilla grown to gigantic proportions. No, he's the last survivor of a previously undiscovered species altogether. Cooper's Kong was always intended to be a movie monster made even more disturbing by the traits he possessed that remind us of humans.

After all, the most distressing aspect of King Kong isn't his terrifying enormity, it's his troubling characteristic of being attracted to human females, and the lengths he'll go in order to obtain them.

Comparing the animation and the film it’s amazing love it it’s funny how in the animation Kong is eating the squid and it’s small.
