Yeah, it's probably pretty easy to make an almost perfectly flat lawn even flatter. I challenge you to come and level my lawn! Good luck!

I discovered a great way of 'flattening' (not levelling) anything. I use this method for seeing how badly a wall has been plastered/taped. I just use a strong torch in a darkened room, & put the torch as close to the wall as possible, & shine it across the wall It usually looks like craters on the moon..! So, if YOU use a halogen floodlight or car headlight across a lawn at night, you will be surprised..! 👍

A) I love the 'English subtitles available' note at the start 🤣 and B) if I used sand to level my lawn I'd have a beach - which might not be the worst idea (if not for all the cats in the area) 😅

Nice to watch a gardening video from someone that actually know's what they are doing. Well done!

I helped make ground level prior to seeding by dragging around an extra large pallet, followed by raking, treading down, pallet levelling. We did this a few times and it's lovely and level now with lush grass. It was an allotment patch before!

I was a plasterer and roughcaster for many years, I'm from Perthshire in Scotland, and we always just used local quarry sand that was used by us and the brickies, then I moved to London and experienced disasters trying to just use building sand. It's so full of clay there, and they sell "platering sand" separately, which is just washed sand that is really coarse, l hated it, it was a real learning curve, but long story short: I'm back in Perthshire, and our local building sand is fine for lawns...

I have that compost spreader and it works amazing, because it's for compost not sand, that top dressing of sand would never work in any compost spreader, chuck a dry bag of compost in it and they are a great tool to have, you use far less compost so it pays for itself in the long run and puts just the right amount of soil in the lawn

Great work guys. I love my lawn and I’ll try to get as close to your level as possible, but I let the mole continue its pleasant life. He loves my lawn too

Made a drag mat last year. I haven't been able to cut the lawn for two weeks since I fertilised it due to the rain and I'm going to have to break the 1/3 rule tomorrow it's grown so well!

I considered making my own lute from a pallet, but in the end I managed to reduce the size of the pallet (why oh why did I start with the biggest and heaviest pallet?!) and dragged that around. I still got reasonable results using some fine topsoil mixed with grass seed. I could not find any USGA sand!

Sure would appreciate you two, packing your bags and popping over the pond to treat my lawns with a bit of your excellent Irish expertise. I'll even provide you with nonstop cups o' tea 😉 🇨🇦

I made a diy drag mat after you first video and its been a game changer 💯 a fraction of the price of a real drag mat too 🙄

Looking well Robbie, looking fitter lately! Jason must be keeping you on your toes since joining!!
Quick observation, this is all well & good for smaller lawns, but very difficult & costly to work with a 1 acre lawn. The weather has caused some serious ‘bumpage’ over the winter & it’s looking like it needs a complete re-do at a cost of about €5k! 😩

I would imagine, after a long day of law leveling, a tall glass of Guinness would be just what the doctor ordered? You might even need a second one just for medicinal purposes or aching backs? 🇨🇦😆💝👍🍻 cheers!

Great video guys ! Couple of questions :
I assume bags of Horticultaral sand work just as well ?
How long do you recommend waiting to mow after dressing the lawn ? I have a rotary mower that sucks up the grass cutting, so clearly dont want to suck up all the top dressing too when cutting .
Thanks
