I don't really care about VFX all that much but the way you explain it and the effort you put in to this video makes it really fun to watch.

The second splash after the whale submerges sells the whole thing for me. This is truly impressive!

Not only the video content is interesting, but the HUGE amount of work you did is... Just WOW! Not only did you spend 111 hours with the cgi, but you also took the time and effort to go outside, film the explanation scenes, film the funny "documentary" thing, and then edit the whole video.
Props dude, you've got yourself a new subscriber.

The reason why smoke simulations look so similar to water simulations is because from a physics/engineering perspective, they are pretty much identical. In science we refer to gases and liquids as 'fluids', because their behaviours can be modelled using the same sets of equations (Navier-stokes et al.). The only (main) difference between the two is the density and viscosity of the fluid.

VFX Supe here. Thanks, Erik for such an excellent example of how talent & enough time = quality. I'll share it with my clients when they request that FX work be done in a day. Your 1-hour example looks like 8h of work at any studio. You are fast!!

Respect to you man! I was in VFX company before, but damn the combination of nodes, expressions, troubleshooting and debugging really put a dent on my head that I will never want to go back.

It's simply astonishing that you can do this at home, with a proper set of skills of course. 25y ago I worked at TV station which was one of the first one in Europe equipped with non-linear editing station. In today's standards it was extremely simple, SD only, simple dissolve needed rendering and it cost in hundreds of thousand of dollars. And here you have young talented visual graphic designer who can create a whole movie at home. Well done.

I don't know why this came up in my recommendations but I'm glad it did. The effort you put in the VFX simulations can be seen even in your video editing as well. It's 10/10.

Sorry.. WHAT WAS THAT WHALE SHOT?? This is so incredibly good! Not gonna lie, I clicked on that video expecting that this thumbnail was clickbait. I am far far from being an expert (I only did many fluid sims for commercial use) but I would say that I have roughly 5% of the knowledge to make your 100 hour shot. Amazing work! And i expected to see the sub count at 100.000. Not under 20.000
