Another important thing to add is that SAP launched their first Cloud ERP already in 2008 with SAP Business ByDesign. S/4HANA is not their first Cloud ERP. Netsuite and Oracle are often portrayed as the "founding fathers" of ERP Cloud, which is only 50% correct.

The timing of this announcement is very significant. Obviously, since Google is on Oracle EBS they are also running Oracle databases. If this strictly to get away from Oracle, they will also have to migrate any other software they have that runs on oracle databases as well to other providers. This could be a significant challenge as well.
