There’s a reason for the series only having seven episodes. It’s because there are exactly seven spaces that a pawn takes across a board to become the queen. This represents Beth’s seven episode journey from pawn to queen. The promotion was achieved during her match with Borgov in the final episode. Beth’s wardrobe was designed to represent this too during her final match. Beth wears an all-white coat, trousers, and a hat which matches her own queen piece. Beth’s wardrobe throughout the series was actually handmade and designed by Gabriele Binder and Anna Taylor-Joy, herself.

In Chess each side has 4 minor pieces, 2 knights and 2 bishops. Amazingly 4 is also the number of Beth Harmon’s limbs, 2 arms and 2 legs!!! It’s an irrefutable proof of the existence of god!
