Hurricane Beryl has caused massive damage across the Caribbean and has left ten dead in its wake. Now a Category 3 hurricane, Beryl is heading toward Mexico and the Cayman Islands, bringing dangerous weather and heavy rain. Mexico is preparing by building storm shelters, securing businesses, and advising visitors to evacuate. In Jamaica, authorities are sheltering almost 1,000 people and enforcing curfews, while other Caribbean islands face major rebuilding efforts. Beryl is significant as the first hurricane of the 2024 season and the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record due the effects of climate change.
