I was using this technique as soon as I started playing, about a week ago, and now I found your channel. Lot's of good things around here, nice work! One thing that makes your base almost unreachable is building on rocks that can't be reached without a stair. This will make 80% of raiders to give up.

thanks, very useful. Btw, there is one more good way to secure the base - build it on a rock you can not climb onto without placing blocks etc. So there is no way they will get to your house. Also you need to place some enclosed cupboards around the house so they don't build a raid tower and jump on the roof. That is why you need to close your roof and have some kind of a door with a lock there, so you can go on top and see everything.

***Just an FYI: adding the block into the walls, as off right now, adds to the protection.  The Rust development team has fixed glitching through floors, so the blocks are in play again! :D

The blocks are great on your roof, but using them on lower levels allows a raider to destroy one of the walls, and then the top block, which then gives them access to higher floors. Great vid!

Great tips. I like to airlock and user a version of honeycomb with false doors and such.

Another tip is to add blocks in the honeycombs, to make it even more safe :D

Also, one of thing I do is build a big honeycomb 5 story, and put my loot in an outside layer room on the 2nd or 3rd story. Raiders either go bottom floor first or top floor first, so I don't put loot in either of those. They also always beeline for the center because people put their things in the middle so they can have more buffer zones. Putting stuff in an outer layer means they might get to it first, but they'll probably be entering from a different angle and it will take very long to get to your secret room, usually they will give up. I prefer this to the scumbag exploiting elevator method.

Exactly those 3 things I usually do. Great tips man! Although I haven't found a way yet to protect my base from those freakin twig towers. I have build houses with honeycombs aswell, but I am still wondering if the blocks inbetween those walls are a better way to protect your house. Can a floor be destroyed or only walls? If so, what will happen if they destroy one block and the floor? Will that give them an "elevator"?

I really liked the first method ! If only I had enough materials D: I'm still having a hard time while building my house xD

3:52 can't raider just build a ladder there and c4 the wall ? I managed to break a stone wall with a pick axe by being on top of a ladder

I feel like using all of these methods with maybe another secret or two, is going to make all but the largest groups of raiders leave you alone.

What are your thoughts on multiple loot rooms vs. one? Back in Legacy, we used to have about 4-5 areas with loot, which saved us 60% of it during on particularly bad raid. It seems that it could either cause people to take what they have an leave, or worse case scenario, they think that you have more than you do and burrow through. Not sure if those are correct interpretations of it, but always what I kinda figure was the case, at least in Legacy.

What i do to protect my bases is make stair rooms 1x1 with armored walls that will probably make raiders take them down with c4  which will aoe down those twig stairs inside. Actually even an explosion of c4 on a wall 3 blocks away from stairs will aoe them down. So basically raiders have to destroy cupboards with rockets to raid you.

2 quistons: How does the honeycomb design defend against just putting a ladder up on top and them getting in from the top and why does your HUD looks fancier than mine?

super helpful video. But what if people raid from above?

They need to fix the whole building falling down thingg and stop people being able to build bases like this. Rust was awesome because when raiding you would fight on the inside of the base not just shoot then blow the base to the The elevator needs to be addressed because that also is a pain in the ass.

Blocks in the 4 walls can be brake if one guy break the wall and the block the more taller, he can climb and walk on the walls (need 1 c4 & 3pick axe to raid this)
I think bear traps (and now baricades) are better than blocks
Sorry for the language, I'm french and my english is a little bad

Hey Phaedo. I know you do rust cribs. Dont really have a crib but i have been building arena's for our server lately. Would really like if you could showcase them. Have a look at my tube to see some footage from the battles and to help you decide if you want to.

Thanks
