Another great tip. It happened to me and sliding the tending side down solved it for me.

Yep... did this once when first learning. Prussic was too high to reach. Fortunately I was only a foot and a half off the ground and was able to undo my saddle and climb out. Make sure your tending hitch (prussic) is within reach before leaving the ground!!! Thanks for this channel!! Am really looking forward to using drt this fall for hunting. Was out this morning putting a paracord loop in. Great excuse to be out in the woods!

Joe, you and Scott are awesome! I did this once early on, and I had my hitch tender too far away out of reach, so I had to climb back up to reach my tending knot.

Can't you clip the carabiner from the Prusik below the Blake's hitch on the main line so it can pull the hitch up as you climb?

I had my blakes hitch bind up and become too tight to repel smoothly. The problem was that I tied the blakes hitch TOO TIGHT. When dressing your knot, don't tighten the hell out of it or else it can't slide up and down well. Don't pull the break side rope too hard or this will happen.

Question about tending the hitch:
Thinking myself clever, I had an aluminum ring spliced to the end of my predator rope (i'd seen it done for SRT setups). I didn't realize the rope wasnt great for SRT, so now have a DRT rope with a metal ring on one end. Trying to make the best of it, the ring should be a good "stopper knot".
Any good way to attach an aluminum ring on the tail of the Blake's Hitch to the tending prusik? Just re-tie the prusikaround the ring? Anything better you can think of?

First rate! When I toyed with the DRT method, my prussic knot would tighten too much and stop me from descending. Thanks for clarifying the solution for that. Either way, this topic and your detailed and thoughtful analysis is exactly the reason I hope you and Scott can do a workshop after King Cuomo allows the citizenry move freely. You guys got the knowledge and this nascent sport is growing like crazy.

I’m having trouble defending with just a single Blake’s hitch. No tending. I just seem to go down too quick. Is it all about pressure?

Joe I plan to transition from climbing sticks to using climbing ropes this year. Would you suggest going with DRT or SRT?
*I don't mind investing a few extra $ on equipment.
