I happen to be reading a Carbo novel, so that's a nice coincidence.

Definitely enjoying this game. It has more role-playing than I had any reason to expect. And the tactical combat is rewarding and less reliant on RNG for difficulty than XCom (not to slight that game, as I've played it tons). Definitely worth a look.

I played Expeditions: Viking, and i loved that game so much, i put 80 hours on it, i really was waiting for this one.

The way Cohh always starts his thoughts videos with a straight face because he's waiting for the clip to start recording, I always think he's gonna say, "This game is absolute trash.. Dont buy it."

I like how the game uses easter egg characters from HBO's Rome like Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus.

One of my favorite games ever is Divinity Original Sin 2. Can I expect story/combat like that game but in a different setting? I understand DoS2 is a Crpg but just wondering.

Just overall an great game... The only downside is that it has no reason to play it twice or something like that IMO. BUT for the 50-70 hrs playing time it is FOR SURE really an absolute surprise for me personally, never heard or played Expeditions: Vikings, but somehow stumbled upon this gem. I am 30 hrs in and it keeps getting better and better :)

I have about 30 hours in and I'm pretty bored of it.

Pros: I love that the game is fully voiced. The combat is decent, but EXTREMELY easy on normal. I was excited to build my legion camp.

Cons: The story is very bland and unoriginal. The "alignment" systems is completely meaningless and is only there to offer the illusion of choice. Your main party will never leave your service regardless of how much they hate your answers, and there is a building you can leave people in to increases their loyalty level, there is no chance of losing anyone you care about. Resources like rations, meds, ets are PLENTIFUL, you will never run out of anything and are able to buy every item in the game with ease. The legion battles are bad, you pick a card and watch a boring animation that has really nothing to do with the card you picked, or you just auto resolve. To pacify a region you either do a quick legion thing where you send your legion and that's it, or you have to do turn based combat. My point here is that these "pacification" quests they call it FORCE you to use non main characters. I don't want to use non main characters. I gave all my good gear to my main dudes and it constantly forces you to use "the other guys". Gear is mostly meaningless, my guys all have mostly full uniques, except trinkets so anything else that drops is just worse and doesn't matter. The UI is god awful in all aspects, I'm constantly moving my party instead of my legion, I can't easily tell which npcs are enemies and which are civilians, I move my guys by accident quite often in combat when I'm trying to select another person to move, etc, etc. There are some annoying bugs, I've had one where I just can't move on the map anymore 4 times and had to reload the game to fix it 3 times. 1 time reloading did not work my party was hard stuck and had to pick a previous save. The UI "freezes" in combat sometimes too, I couldn't attack move or do anything a few times and had to reload.


Maybe I'm too harsh on games as a grumpy old man these days. I just remember in the old days a game like this would be avg at best. Now if you buy a game, it runs and has a complete story experience people say it's best game of all time and I guess it is compared to the trash they release these days like your Maddens and your BF2042s.
