You need a 4 foot can't hook, turning logs is the hardest part. I now use my electric winch and cable wrapped around the log. I'm 69 yrs old and need to do it the easier way

That sawmill was such a good investment. Invaluable for what you're doing, actually.

If you wrap a rope around that log, your tractor's loader can accomplish turning the log on the sawmill deck. It's much easier than doing so manually.

As I learned on my Norwood mill. Use the winch to roll the large logs. It makes life easier on us older folks.

Won't find much white pine bigger and nicer than that. Good yield, as well. As someone already commented, I bet it smelled good while sawing.

Love the milling episode’s. That means more buildings to come. Love how Cali is acclimated, to the ⚠️ dangerous equipment you use. She knows when to move, to stay safe. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Have a great evening, & weekend.💯👏🏾💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸

That must be so fulfilling to create your own lumber out of logs from your own property. That just looks so fun to me, even if it is hard work.🤜💥🤛

Yessir, that tested the limits of the mill. Well done, and perfectly square! It's great to see you back to building.

Shawn, in case you might be interested. A couple years ago I saw a guy with a winch on his saw that was tired of cranking the logs onto the bed. He took an old wrench socket and filled it in with a few welding beads. After that, he filed the welds to the shape of the winch shaft. His shaft was oblong round on the ends with flats in the middle. He was able to power the winch with his half inch battery drill. I was thinking you might take an old socket to a machine shop, have them weld some metal in, and then mill out the shape for your shaft. That would leave your shaft original, and able to be cranked with the handle if you didn't like the socket or lost it. I'm glad your weather is getting better for you.
