i have a corsair xg7 on a rtx 3080 founders ed, i can say i have some of the best temps you can ask for on water cooling, i mine etherium and my vram temps never go above 72, it goes around 68 when im full speed on fans and pump, the fin stack is dense, i think if your running thicker coolant you may not benifit as much as some one who runs just distilled, since its so thin and flows better in a tight space. I am a temp guy and i can say the bitspower classic block didnt do well and was a pain in the a to install its not worth a dime with the whole product, corsair blew them away with better everything and simple install. the temps are great, the bitspower vram was in the low 80s

Please do a review of the water block without and with the active backplate installed on the 3090 to compare the differences in vram temps

Good looking EKWB backplate. You would think the one stand out from Corsair would be a lot better memory cooling than anyone else, but coming second from to the Bentley of the cooling world isn't shabby.

I've got an MP5works BPC on my Gigabyte 3080 and it makes a decent difference to the heat generated to the inside of the case by the GPU

Your test bench just looks so neat my dude (i think you once said you built it yourself). I made a bench myself completely out of wood, it is good but there are times when it shows that i didnt think the design through enough. Yours looks much more efficient.

I am sure it will help with longevity with back side VRMs remaining cool. Should be way better than before even though you don't see direct performance improvement

Great vid! Question about the terminal on the XG7. Does it attach the same way as the EK terminals, what with the 3 screws that go in perpendicularly? I plan on using an EK GPU quick disconnect kit on the XG7 but I'm unsure in the terminals will be compatible. Thank you!

I have a 4090 Fe ekwb active backplate how the heck do you get the graphics card out of the motherboard once it's inserted since it covers up the release tab

A video idea/challenge for you: there's LOADS of "budget PC build" videos, so instead, find the very best online pre-build customisable PC that people can order, with every dollar spent well & justifiably, that is as close to £4, 000 (about $5, 600 US) as possible (within a couple of hundred either way - that's the challenge). Then justify why, if a customer has that money to spend & wants an amazing desktop gaming PC (excluding monitor and peripherals), why you have chosen the components wisely, to give great value per £/$ even at that level. Performance (including ample power, quiet and amazing cooling even when greatly overclocked CPU & GPU) comes first, but once you cap that then appearance (like ARGB with your custom water cooling) is bonus points. :)

Test results were comparable with my bank account, - not a lot in it! 😄

So the this active backplate is a gimmick for 3080 (probably useful for 3090).
Anyway, have you got any response from Alphacool regarding the Vram temps?

So if i order the corsair water block, I'm essentially gambling. Might get a good sample, or inferior sample. Not sure how i feel about that. Unless this is some manufacturing thing they improved on since and that's why they sent the new samples?

Lovin' the DIY testbench. 👍
I take it that's a mobo tray from a PC case....Antec maybe, with kitchen unit height adjustable feet?

The Aquacomputer blocks outperforms all of them and has been offering active backplates for years.

Why does he keep pausing every few words like a scratched CD?

you wouldn't be installing a water cooled gpu with an air cooler on the cpu
