HOW Nikola Jokic has DOMINATED the NBA and become MVP Favorite | Film Breakdown

So Nikola Jokic absolutely played out of his mind in the Nuggets comeback win against the Pelicans on Sunday Night, but last night he followed up that performance with a near 40 point triple double against the Sacramento Kings and today I wanna talk about why it’s looking like Jokic will become just the thirteenth player in NBA History to win back to back MVP Awards. Nikola Jokic had yet another out of his mind performance last night in Sacramento as he willed the Nuggets to a 106-100 victory over the Kings. As you can see here Jokic finished with 38 points, 18 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks while shooting the ball 62.5% from the field. The Nuggets are currently sitting in 6th place in the West and they're currently doing that without Jamal Murray as well as Michael Porter Jr which is truly incredible and shows how huge Jokic has been for them. I wanna get into now just how Jokic has willed this team to the sixth seed as of right now without the team’s second and third best players. One of the biggest reasons for the Nuggets success especially as of late has been the fact that teams are willing to Double Team Jokic and live with the results that come. The way Jokic keeps the defense off balance whether in fast breaks or normal plays is also crazy. Even without their other two best players, it seems they have the right players around Jokic, as Gordon’s cutting ability fits Jokic’s play style well. Other guys that fit so well alongside the joker are Monte Morris and Davon Reed. Jokic is also so elite around the hoop that the double team in the paint won’t even effect him and that shows how difficult it is to guard this guy and how scary it is to face him as well. Jokic has put up crazy numbers over the past three games but his efficiency is incredible as well as he has shot 73%, 71%, and 63% from the field in those games. His efficiency and crazy numbers have been showing for the whole season though as compared to two other MVP Candidates, Giannis and Embiid, Jokic leads them in 30 of the 40 stat columns as of right now. So Nikola Jokic clearly means business and should be the NBA MVP as of right now, but with more games to go, don’t be surprised if he continues to prove why the lead in the MVP race belongs to him.
