Terrific video. Thanks for the shout out and putting up a link. It is a crime this film is not better known

I recall seeing Lancelot on release and thinking it decent. Not seen it since. I’ve been hoping for a blu for some time, so here’s hoping BFI, or someone, will give this a great boutique release very soon. I would snap it up. All the reality that you mention is what impressed me, I recall (but not a lot else).

Nice review, and good to know that there is a blu-ray with subs, I might get that unless the film gets another release sometime soon. Lancelot Du Lac is brilliant and a near-favourite, I would rank it somewhere in the middle of Bresson's filmography, but he has one of the most consistent filmographies ever, so that's not putting the film down, and like other Bresson films, I will most likely appreciate it more when I watch it again. The film is probably the most interesting version of the Arthurian stories, and the film is one of the most interesting and wonderful deconstructions of any famous story ever.

Hi Ronin-Bresson's depiction of the Arthurian world is stripped of the glamour and romance of other adaptations (Excalibur). It presents a harsh and unforgiving landscape where violence and death are an ever-present reality.
