Roommates, it’s time to get real ‘Hot And Bothered’. And not that kind of hot and bothered, if you know what we mean. We’re talking about menopause. It’s a topic that’s rarely discussed openly, but we're about to change that. In this series, board certified OB-GYN Dr. Simone Whitmore is here to lay out the facts! For example, did y’all know that a woman technically hasn’t reached menopause until she has not had a period for one year? Even though changes and symptoms can start several years earlier. More than half of all women will experience hot flashes and night sweats, otherwise known as Vasomotor Symptoms (VMS), during menopause. In addition to VMS, there are many other symptoms of menopause that we'll talk about to paint the full picture. We know every woman’s experience with menopause is different, so in this series we’re going to open up, give you all the information you need and share the real tea on VMS.

This is a wonderful public service to women going through menopause. I am certainly one of them who is currently experiencing hot flashes and cold sweats and the lack of sleep. I was always wondering where is the information that I need to navigate this challenging and uncertain times in my life.. thanks so much for this!!!

I feel miserable with the hot/cold cycle. I don’t know if I’m coming or going, what to wear, & what not to wear. Not getting enough sleep because I’m fighting with putting on and taking off blankets. Very frustrating. I’m exercising and trying to figure out what triggers them. Thus far I know alcohol, caffeine, spicy food, and hot food & drink are some triggers. I don’t know if I’m going to make it for 10 years in this cycle.

I've semi passed the hot flashes, I just deal with it along with the other symptoms. I am full fledged menopausal (no cycle) for a couple yrs now. It's the weight gain I'm having a problem with, it's stubborn and thinks its found a home #nottodaysatan. Although being adverse to hormone therapy in the past, I'm ready to reconsider.

Thank you for this video. I recently had a full hysterectomy and am now in menopause. My surgeon prescribed venoflaxen but I almost ended up back in the hospital due to the side effects. I am looking for a more holistic/herbal treatment. The hot flashes and every time sweats is making me miserable. As my body is adjusting to a lack of a period I am still getting those symptoms. I am taking every and all suggestions. Also, if anyone knows of a community I can join please let me know.

I have already had a partial hysterectomy but I already have such a low tolerance for BS now I fear it will only get worse when the full onset happens 😂😂
