EVERYTIME I DIE
One of the greatests song by Finnish Death Metal band Children of Bodom. I'm playing a combination of guitars and synthesizer parts on medieval Hammered Dulcimer. The tune is scaled to E-minor (2 semitones upwards) to facilitate playing on this instrument. I couldn't find a way to interprete the keyboard solo without losing its awesome vibe, so I decided to leave it aside, unfortunately.

Credits :
Hammered Dulcimer (transcription and playing): Val Cortoni
Recording, production, mixing & mastering: Val Cortoni
Video editing : Val Cortoni
Thumbnail design : Clem CH

Technical details : My hammered dulcimer is a Roger Frood Dove 4-13-13-5 Chromatic model.Virtual instruments I used are Groove Agent 5 (drums), Halion Sonic 3 (bass, keyboards), Karoryfer Cute Emily (virtual guitars) with Cubase's 10.5 virtual amp. For the backing track, I've used a commonly found MIDI score as a starting point, and strongly edited it to achieve a decent sound on my virtual instruments.

RIP Alexi, thank you for the incredible pieces of art you left.

This shows Alexi’s genius composing! His classical music knowledge transverses across all forms of music! The main verse is just tailor made for the Dulcimer sound. I wish Janne used this in the original!

Alexi would be smiling from heaven after listening to this, being content with the quality of music he created and the millions that he would have inspired .

Not only does this show the brilliance of this composition. But your playing and the tone of this instrument does the song so much justice!

Got the song randomly stuck in my head for the last hour, so I turned it on and immediately off again, thinking "Wait a minute, why would I listen to the original? It doesn't have a Dulcimer" and came back here.
