Ironically, I'm pretty sure this is the only Home Alone movie I ever saw as a kid. I distinctly remember the toy car, and the cranky lady neighbor who loved sourdough bread, and the parrot. I remember thinking it was hilarious when the parrot said "don't come in I'm naked." Truly the pinnacle of child humor

I actually think the message of Home Alone 3 is similar to the first two. The kid’s family underestimates him but it turns out he’s smart and brave. Also, Alex ends up having a touching moment with the mean neighbor the way Kevin did with the old man and the pigeon lady. Finally, unlike the first two movies it is believable that a mom would leave her sick son at home to go to work for a few hours instead of forgetting him on a family vacation.

Alex was not taken seriously, took it upon himself to thwart the baddies, and got vindicated. The theme totally worked for me as a kid. The “reunion” is emotional because his mom just realized he’s in danger half way through her absence, and because she wants to apologize for not believing her kid.

I actually really like this one. I think people forget it is mostly because it came after the legendary first two, and went with a new family. It still had effort, comedy, a functional story (stupid, yes, but functional for a comedy), ingenuity and good actors.

Out of all the ones that don't have Maculay Culkin, I think this one is my favorite. It's the only one that actually feels like it has stakes

Something i did always enjoy about this movie is how it felt like the stakes were being raised every time. First movie is a kid by himself defending his own home from burglars.

Second movie is that same kid by himself in a place completely foreign to him, fighting off those same burglars who found out he was there and wanted revenge. Higher stakes because Kevin is now a priority for Marv and Harry.

In Home Alone 3, it's a completely different nightmare scenario for a child. Arguably worse than having no adults to help, having plenty of adults who just flat out do not believe you. And this time it's double the enemies and they're also on a whole different level of skill compared to the Wet Bandits. ... At least they are until a child recreates a Saw movie

I love the 3rd Home Alone. In the 1st two, Kevin learns how important family is, but his family, more specifically his extended family, are still mean to him in the end. In home alone 3, Alex's family realized he was telling the truth and actually apologized for doubting him.

The overall movie may be kind of lacking, but I will always love the iconic moment near the end when the bad guy pulls a gun to Alex’s head, and Alex says, “that’s not your gun. This is your gun.” And then pulls a gun out of his pocket and puts it to the bad guys head with a little cheeky smile in his face.

That scene went hard.

The simplicity of home alone 1 is what makes it a brilliant movie and christmas favourite.

While not better and more solid a Home Alone experience than the first two original movies, the third holds a special place in my heart. I love this trilogy a lot!

The emotional reunion at the end was completely warranted.
Those "three hours" were FULL of danger, adrenaline, and fear for Alex. And when his mom gets home she sees all of that and she's unsure if he even survived.
When he sees her, he sees that she believes him and the euphoria he felt seeing her was him feeling not only accepted, but actually safe.

Her seeing him was pure relief that he was unharmed and guilt for not believing him and leaving him unprotected, as well as making him feel rejected.

Very emotional. A lot can happen in a short time.

I think that might have been "the heart" part.
The first two movies didn't have the trust-factor dynamic

I grew up watching the first three movies and this one actually was and still is my favorite. As a kid I just found the characters more likable, the villains where scarier, the bird was comedy gold and it was even more action packed, which made it even more fun.

I will die on this hill that Home Alone 3 was independently a great movie, it might even be my personal favourite. The casting was brilliant, it had a similar wholesome vibe to the first, the evil villains were great, the traps were genuinely funny. Even the animals were great! No CGI, great Christmas vibes, what’s not to like?! I would also watch it when I was sick and home from school, like the kid in the movie, which would usually be in the winter, so I have fond memories of it.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I actually really enjoy this movie. It certainly has a different feel from the first two movies, doesn't have the heart that they do, and definitely not as grounded as them (Well as grounded as you can say the first two are anyways). I just find this a fun movie to watch. It probably helps that I watched it as a kid of course. I am extremely surprised to hear that the third one was also written/produced by John Hughes. Maybe it taking place in Chicago should have clued me in?

I actually enjoyed Home Alone 3. The whole international criminal subplot was actually what I liked about it. This kid is doing his thing trying to catch these bad guys, and they are literally hunting him to get a device that can destroy the world. Haha

One thing that always stuck out to me was Mrs. Hess, even though she had a distain for Alex.

She still cared about him, in a brief blink and you’ll miss it moment, when she’s being interrogated by the terrorists, she doesn’t give up Alex, and then when they find out he has it, her visible worry is very apparent, that she doesn’t want any harm to come of Alex.

Which is why their bond at the end feels nice, took a near tragedy for her to express her love for him.

Even when I was a kid, I noticed that.

Home Alone 3 is the one I remember more than the others. I replayed it every year as a kid.

As a kid in the early 2000s (a 90s baby), this version of Home Alone was the one I saw the most and I thought it was the funniest. Hell, it might have been the one I saw first, so I never judged it based on the previous two but enjoyed it on it's own. I also remember enjoying the thieves more and the traps he set for them.

I always liked Home Alone 3. I think it’s underrated. The first two films were special, but I appreciate they tried to do something different, instead of reinventing the first film 50 or more times. (Home Alone: Lost in London? Home Alone: Lost in Hong Kong? You get the idea.) One thing that might have been better: I used to get one or two of the male spies mixed up as a kid, and I never had to worry about that with Marv and Harry. If the spies had been just a little more varied and interesting, maybe it would’ve been more memorable.

Tbh I just love this movie. Home alone 3 was something else. Alex's mom was nice and really cared about her children, she did not forget about Alex being home, she was trying to stay home with him and even though Alex called the police, she was not like "you are grounded". I really enjoyed these "burglars". They seemed so cool and dangerous at the beginning of the movie and then they were almost killed by a child. And the parrot was my favourite. Especially the scene in the iglu where the main burglar is hiding and the parrot just shows up. It was made for children and I feel very nostalgic about watching it nowadays.

Btw my boyfriend and best friend have never seen it. I was so suprised that literally no one remembers this particular movie.
