When did federal overreach over local government become popular with Republicans?

The right, clutches their pearls when they hear things like “defund the police “ but crickets for this rhetoric.

I couldn’t disagree more with Krystal and Ryan’s take on NYC transit improving since congestion pricing. My 15 minute commute has actually become 45 minutes, buses are less frequent, and the cold makes waiting unbearable. Trains are packed, benches are taken by homeless individuals, and the conditions—feces, vomit, people openly smoking K2—are worse than ever. Nothing has improved.

TikTok is flooded with videos of transit workers speaking to riders, especially about how low-income areas like the South Bronx are being underserved as “punishment” for fare evasion. Weekend service into Manhattan gets cut while outbound trains keep running, almost like they don’t expect us to be part of the workforce.

For Krystal and Ryan to rely on the opinions of pro-congestion pricing advocates—many of whom can afford the fee and don’t live in impacted neighborhoods—is completely misguided. Most New Yorkers aren’t documenting our struggles online because that’s not our style. But trust me, the reality on the ground is far from what they’re claiming.

Krystal speaking from the perspective of Manhattan transit is to be taken even less seriously because Manhattan is the Apple of New York’s eye.

What a lot of people don’t realize is NYC is .55% of NYS geographical land mass. It’s overdeveloped while the majority of the state is underdeveloped and in squallor. If they were to develop it people would voluntarily move and decongest the city anyway. There’s just no opportunity there because they do not care about developing it at all. So this tunnel vision fallacy solution they’ve made to punitively fine people traveling within their own city is ridiculous and a money grab to fund what will always be a crappy MTA.

I’ll be sure to leave some comments on Ryan Twitter to make sure that he sees some dissenting views cause ain’t no way. 😂

The NY tax payers ALREADY paid for the RIGHT to use those roads. How do those tolls help working and middle class people??

We pay federal, state and local income taxes and sales tax now they tax the roads right when the subways are unridable. Nice that you lived here once but you moved away, your opinion doesn't matter.

I live in nyc and have never heard anyone of any description say anything kind about the congestion pricing.

Not a single NYers I know like myself wanted congestion pricing. Uber and Lyft lobbied millions of dollars to Hochul to get congestion pricing in Manhattan.

wtf? When did breaking points pick a side and start these bullshit titles for segments. Defending beauracrazy and waste is a ridiculous hill to die on. I watch you guys because you used to be balanced, hoping you realize 77 million people want an axe taken to DC.

The people who can afford to pay the congestion pricing think it’s great. Just another way to screw over lower class people. Just as Marie Antoinette would’ve said, “ let them take the bus”

Kathy Hochul stalled implementing congestion pricing until after the election. Would be honnest to report both sides

Everyone that I know hates congesting pricing. Because it’s already expensive to live in the city! It makes everything more expensive for people trying to go into the city and only benefits the rich.
