Thanks for this!👏I just bought a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan (white). From experience with my prior minivan (deets below) I prefer a fairly low platform for my trifold 25" x 75" mattress + a few extra pads. Yes, I need my headroom!! I've tried cots in the Grand Caravan, but one was too high and the lower one is - awkward and too long. While trying out the cots in the back of the Grand Caravan, it occurred to me that I could work with a bedboard shorter than the entire length of the mattress, just to level the floor from the place where the floor dips down, up to the front. And I found that YOU ALREADY DID IT. Genius!!! ❤ I have power toolz and will use screws to put my platform together. I'm going to Home Depot today to buy the materials. YOU ROCK! (BTW I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother - and I enjoy your videos.)

Deets on the platform thing: My prior minivan was a 2008 Honda Odyssey, for which my talented cousin built an AWESOME sleeping platform. It was a work of art; the Ody's floor didn't just slope from back to front, it was all gnarly from side to side. For reasons unrelated to me, my cuz has a lot going on, and I'm not gonna impose on him do build a platform for my GC right now. I did carefully disassemble the genius platform he built for me so perhaps in the future we can reuse the materials for a fancier platform in the GC. Or not. My DIY job based on yours, may be just fine forever.

You crack me up! And don't you love the foam flooring? When my kids were little I covered a whole play room with it and when doody happened I could just toss the messy piece and put a new one in, easy peasy.😊👍

Awesome. Heck, if YOU don't need under bed storage and you are 80% full time, why am I as a casual part time camper so "worried" about building a bed with underneath storage? I can do duct tape!! Thanks!

Amanda this is great I wish that you could go into a little bit more detail about the duct tape and the velcro because I need to do something similar but I don't have the tools to drill and nail and all that stuff.

Do you put a wool blanket or anything between the platform and the foam pad for insulation? Just wondering how much-if any-cold air comes up from the floor….

Super helpful! I'm retiring on Friday, likely buying a 2020 DGC on Wednesday, and I love your idea! I want it as simple as possible and I had the impression that after stowing all four rear seats that it was all at the same height. Are you using soft or hard 3" foam from HD?
