I tried both camera by myself only indoors and after looking at pictures I have to admit that pictures taken by gcam are more detailed, have better contrast and depth, but zooming in to the pixel level show visible noise. On the other hand pictures taken by default Xiaomi camera app are cleaner but softer. My conclusion is Xiaomi app uses aggressive noise filter in all situation which is not good. I think the brightness compensation is applied too. Definitely the Xiaomi camera app could be improved but for me personally the best way is using Pro Mode for pictures that matters to you.
No camera app can do what you personally want to achieve with the picture.

Native app is better in video, but gcam with HDR is amazing in photos, and It has better HDR in front camera. Thanks! These results for 449€/$ is crazy!

Very good comparison format, gcam looks better in most situations. Also another important point to highlight is the speed of opening application and taking pictures, if gcam can be used for occasions where quickly loading application and taking a picture without worrying if application will stall or misfocus...

Damir, a question for you. Mi9 uses a new sensor than mi8, poco, mix 3, and funny enough pixel 3.


How does it stack up against those other ones? I was thinking of getting the mix 3 because i like it and it has the same sensor as the pixel.


How would a mix 3 with gcam fare against a mi 9 with gcam?
