How do you face dark times? Notice I didn’t ask how should you face dark times, but rather how do you? Pain and suffering are universal, but for the Christian, they are valuable and even beneficial. Today we take a look at the apostle Paul’s own personal experience. He had a very positive episode followed by a very negative one. It rattled him at first, but eventually he learned a lesson that lifted him to a place where he could face the darkness with confidence and grace.

Jesus wore a crown of thorns, He bled great drops of blood from the circumference of his head (flesh). Distress.

Paul says twice when speaking of this incident "lest I should be exalted above measure, (in other words puffed up with pride) then he goes on in verse 10 and explains what it is.

2nd Corinthians 12:10 I take pleasure in infirmities and reproaches in necessities and persecutions and distresses for Christ's sake when I am weak then I am strong. All of these challenges are rooted and exhibited in the mind first.

When we are distressed (whether physical or mental) about anything we are made weak, that weakness turns us to God, and it is God who makes us strong.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Messenger of Satan, distressing
