I had used open office in the past.  The reason Openoffice and Libre docs.  Open office was created by two individuals.  Once they split ways one kept Openoffice and the other created Libre docs.  I went back to Microsoft because my company offered it to us but now that I am with a different employer, I am going back to Libreoffice. (once called Libre docs.)  for my at home use.  the nice thing is, I can open my Microsoft documents with either.
