I can think of a very good reason for _not_ forcing big pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer to relinquish their copyrights on the manufacture of their vaccines:
Can you imagine the disasters that could arise if lots of little vaccine factories _without adequate expertise or quality control_ were to spring up in underdeveloped countries?
