. Time for an audio-based virus, this one only for Windows 9x systems (95, 98 and ME) known as Lovesong. Lovesong is a stealthy Windows executable file infector where its payload remains dormant until a particular day of each month is reached. It arrives as an infected (and likely international) version of the Automatic Skip Driver (ASD) program.
Because the PC speaker uses a CPU interrupt, Lovesong takes advantage of this and causes all activity on the computer to halt while Lovesong's payload plays. Once the payload has completed, the payload cannot be triggered again until Windows has been rebooted.
