Reloop Mixtour Pro Review: Laidback Luke's Vision | Beatsource Tech

It’s a rare thing for a brand to work closely with a single DJ to bring their vision of a product to life, but that’s very much the case with the Mixtour Pro - a collaboration between Reloop, Algoriddim, and Laidback Luke. The question is, when something is designed around a specific performer’s workflow, does that mean it’s any good for the rest of us? On the new episode of Beatsource Tech, Mojaxx reviews the Mixtour Pro to find out.

Spot on review. For 300 I buy it right now. For 500 I’ll have to beat myself up over it til tomorrow and still buy it cause I have no self control.

You are always quite kind with your reviews. I personally cannot get past using plastic chrome knobs in 2024. The design looks quite dated as well. Calling it "Pro" is quite misleading when It has no booth output and requires a real "Pro" industry mixer to utilize it in any kind of professional setting. I would love to hear what the FOH guys have to say about this unit when Luke goes on stage.

With so much mixing power in such a small package the innovation is definitely there. And Reloop & Luke should be applauded for that. This is good for the industry which has been in a Pioneer deadlock for way too long now. And if you want to go serious with this then the price is justified IMO. Going compact without sacrificing quality usually comes with a price tag. The amount of muscle memory required for this device is scary though. Having each hardware control bound to both Mode and Shift functions can get complicated and unintuitive really really fast.

The original Mixtour got me out of many a pickle and I used it for a few proper gigs, def keen to try this out!

Mine is on pre-order, thankfully nothing in this review has put me off! This is a great backup/travel option for pro DJs who want decent sound quality and build quality.

I’m sure someone will have commented on this before. Love to see the Intimidation Blue in the background. 🙌

Laid back Luke is most definitely a pioneer in the scene and his dj game is always on point! If his input was used for the creation of this, then I have zero doubts this will be a game changer!

this seems like a device that you need a lot of experience to use because you need to know what you want to do exactly. I like having buttons for most functions. I could not imagine using this myself but I understand its workflow thanks to this video.

Remember, this device is designed to be used with a phone or iPad, where you have all of these buttons anyway. To play a full set on the iPad, the only thing really missing is a sound card, so any buttons on top of the sound card are a bonus. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.

I have always loved modular devices I still have the traktor ranges of devices. With the new dynamic beat grids in Djay and all its other features makes this a great choice for the creative DJ. Most DJs don’t use a lot of the features.

Learning what does what and building that muscle memory is key if indeed a bit of a learning curve.
I would probably pair this with an X1 mk2 or mk3 and have the extra features mapped to those devices. I would need to run it on my Mac to do that as I don’t think the iPad supports them.
As you can at least have some additional control hands on without having to switch modes all the time. All while keeping a pretty small system. Glad to know the output volume is good on the unit, since that has been a flaw with a lot of low end devices especially usb powered ones.

The whole using sync but with the dynamic grids means you can concentrate on more creative mixes and with neural mix just getting better and better there is so much more you can do. Djays looper function is much under rated.

The price point will put a lot of people off and you are right if you are not all in then why would you buy one.
Great to see some modular units coming back on the market,

Had the first Mixtour and really liked it. Wish Rekordbox had a controller with this form factor.

Great video. "Cognitive Overload" is how I would describe me trying to mix four decks on this 2-channel device!

Atomix have just added this to the latest EA release of VDJ so it works there too.

this reminds me of how i midi mapped all these extra functions into my ddj-400 (like key sync, quantize toggle etc). so since i midi mapped so many new features, i just had to remember how to access them, like SHIFT + LOOP IN = toggle quantize. when i got a better controller, all these things had dedicated and labeled buttons of their own which made things so much easier. so all the layering on the mixtour makes it feel like a step backwards for me

you are right! for 4 decks controls that can become a challenge in some critical live situations! but maybe if someone have a very good memory skills, certainly they will enjoy that the device very compact and dj travel friendly! for me the best setup is using the A&H K2 and i can map everything as i like. there is even a built-in soundcard
