This is not for thermal camouflage. This is a very simple defence against drones. Most drones carrying RPG warheads, fail to detonate if they don't hit very hard, as the drones themselves don't fly that fast, so these rubber panels can in a way deflect or slow down the drones in a way that they don't detonate. These are protecting the area between the turret and the chassis. These are not meant for rockets, missiles, etc, but for drones teying to slowly get between the turret and the chassis and detonate.

Not aesthetically pleasing but if it keeps the crew safe 🤷‍♂️

Not armour! Looks like a method to reduce heat signature against IR imaging.

Seems pretty obvious that the rubber sheets are mainly to protect against drones, particularly against by-now-common mobility kills when a drone hits the vulnerable engine area.

in the Philippines out Marines used logs as first armor for our IFVS and tanks during the almost 1 year Marawi siege.. it helps repel RPG hits and RPG drop from drones.

During lulls in battle you can use the roof as a golfing range ⛳️

Answer:

Because in modern warfare—where both sides use drones and aerial attacks—a camouflaged rubber roof over the tank’s electronics and observation deck helps conceal and protect it from drone surveillance and overhead threats; thus, the most likely reason is to shield the tank from aerial detection and attacks by drones.

Using tires that is cut into pieces from cars would also help agains drones.

Rubber armour is nothing new. Believe it or not, it's actually pretty useful.

Find the molecular vibration of the detonator by harmonics.

I give it a decade before a portable weapon that can easily beat drones is built and the drone will just be annoying not scary
